OB's Got Character!
Got Ladue Spirit? Consider showing your spirit during the Ladue Horton Watkins High School Homecoming Parade on Saturday, September 26! The parade will begin at LMS at 12:00 p.m. and end at LHWHS. The parade route goes west on Conway Road and then south on Warson Road. All are encouraged to show their spirit by cheering along the parade route!
Old Bonhomme fourth grade students have the exciting opportunity to represent our school by walking in the parade. Permission slips were sent home with fourth graders today, and are due to the office by Tuesday, September 22 .

Remember Marshall? Several years ago OB was proud to have Marshall The Miracle Dog, and his owner, Cyndi Willenbrock, visit our school. Marshall is now starring in his own movie! Potential High School Renovation
Since spring 2014, the Ladue School District has been investigating the possibility of renovating Ladue Horton Watkins High School. The original building was constructed in 1951 and significant improvements to the academic instructional spaces have not been made since the 1960s. The community is encouraged to learn more about this project and why it is being proposed. The Old Bonhomme Parent Teacher Organization (OBPTO) has prepared a survey to collect feedback on After School Enrichment Classes. We need your feedback on past classes as well as help identifying opportunities for future classes. Any feedback that we receive will be utilized for classes in Spring 2016 and beyond.

This year we are fortunate to have additional people supporting our students social emotional needs at Old Bonhomme. This week we are featuring, Beth Mothersbaugh, a part-time school counselor with Ladue School District. She will be with us on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If you are interested in learning more about Mrs. Mothersbaugh click here. She will be facilitating individual support groups for our students like Eagle Energizers and Zones of Regulation.
Lost and Found
We have been back to school now for several weeks, and we have already begun to accumulate items in our Lost and Found. If you discover your child is missing a jacket or water bottle, please feel free to stop by the Lost and Found to check for any items that may belong to your child.

Early Dismissal/BASK Sign-up

On nine days, students will be released early and teachers will take part in professional development opportunities. Childcare/ Enrichment activities are planned for students who need supervision during these hours. Online registration for these days must be received by Monday the week of the early dismissal day. Late Registration will not be accepted. There is no additional charge for those students regularly enrolled for BASK on both AM&PM 4-5 days/week, although pre- registration is required. The Role of the School Counselor
Mrs. Arnold, our school counselor, presents lessons in the classroom every other week. Next week will be her first lesson on the role of the school counselor. As a parent, you can learn more about how to utilize the school counselor's services by visiting http://obschoolcounseling.blogspot.com/.
This year we are fortunate to have additional social emotional supports helping us at Old Bonhomme. This week we will feature SarahFlock, a licensed professional counselor, brought to us through the St. Louis Children Service Fund. She will be with us on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you are interested in learning more about Ms. Flock's click here. She can offer individual and group counseling. You can set up a time to meet with her and see if she would be a good fit for your child. A consent form does need to be signed and on file. We are looking at starting a group for students who have divorced or separated parents. Let Ms. Flock (sflock@jfcs-stl.org) and Mrs. Arnold (harnold@ladueschools.net) know if you are interested in your child participating in the group.

OB's Got Character!

Being nice will be Old Bonhomme’s primary character education focus this school year- inspiring, promoting and encouraging kindness throughout our school community. All OB students visited the Choose To Be Nice station during the Big Rodeo. Ask your child to tell you all about the promise banner they signed
to Choose To Be Nice.

Opportunities for our Kids in September!
On Friday, September 25, the 9th Annual Ladue Education Foundation Community Breakfast will be held from 7:30-9 a.m. at Hilton St. Louis Frontenac.
On Saturday, September 26 at 8:30 a.m. the 3rd Annual 'Due Run 4 Education will be held at Ladue Horton Watkins High School (prior to the Homecoming parade and festivities).
These are both great ways to support the mission of touching every school in our district with extraordinary learning opportunities, from engineering and robotics to fine art and foreign language.
Joining us at our annual events is a way to come together as a community to celebrate our successes, learn about current initiatives, and support our future programs.

Frontenac Racquet Club Tennis Carnival Saturday, August 22 at 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
No experience, no racquet, no problem! Your kids are going to love this Tennis Carnival. They will enjoy tennis skill games, races, dodgeball, kick the can, capture the flag and much more! Pizza dinner will be served.
$25 per student grades K-5 in Ladue School District.

OB Collects Boxtops!!!
Boxtops are small coupons on many products! Look for them on cereal, taco mix, kleenex, diapers, copy paper, ziploc bags and more!Send the coupons to the art studio. OB will collect 10 cents for every boxtop! They add up fast! Mrs. Roth has collection sheets outside her door. If your family collects 25 boxtops your child will receive a crayon eraser as a thank you! We collect all year so don't stop collecting!!!

FRONT CIRCLE DRIVE

There are no parent cars allowed in the front circle drive from 8:30 until the buses have left the school. Morning drop off for school is on the upper blacktop. If you see a bus in the lane keep driving or wait at the park until you see the buses leave.
There are no parent cars allowed in the front circle drive since it needs to be open for the buses. Do not park along the entry to the circle drive at any time during dismissal. The only place to park a vehicle during dismissal is the upper blacktop or Stacy Park.

It's time to SOAR into the new school year! What is one way YOU could help US spread good character? Please consider playing the part of our eagle school mascot. Our school mascot, ObI (pronounced like OBI-Wan Kenobi) generates excitement and energizes our school spirit, fostering a sense of unity and pride among our students, staff, families and community as a whole. OB New Signage
You may have noticed the upgrades to our signs around the building. This has been in the works for awhile now and the district is updating signage district-wide. Sometime this year we’ll unveil our new front brick marquee to replace the one falling apart along Old Bonhomme Road!

For the first time ever, the Old Bonhomme Library will be open for family check outs this summer! Visit us Mondays, June 1 through July 27(closed July 6) from 9:00 am -11:00 am. You are invited to visit the OB Library, enjoy a few good books, and then check out a few to enjoy at home! We hope lots of OB families take advantage of this convenient way to keep good books in the hands of our fantastic readers this summer!

OB's Got Character!
We've successfully SOARed through another school year! The 2014-15 school year was the SORT of year we want to remember! Did your child share with you their SOARing Up experience? On Monday, students participated in Soar Up, a transition activity to help them learn a little bit more about how next year will be. Students had an opportunity to visit a classroom in the next grade level and hear from each one of that grade level's teachers a little bit about themselves, what they will learn next year, what special activities/events will take place, how the next grade level differs from the one they just completed and what teachers will expect from them next year. If you have not already, we encourage you to ask your child to share with you about what they learned!
Coming home today in Friday Folders, on bright orange paper, is a copy of our
annual SOARing Into Summer Calendar. To go along with May's Character Word of the Month, OPEN-MINDEDNESS, we are encouraging all families to be OPEN-MINDED about staying cool this summer while showing good character by participating in a character building activity each week in June and July. Please initial at the end of each week an activity is completed and return the calendar during the first week of school next year! Additional copies of the calendar are available in the front office and can also be accessed through our OB website.
Lost and Found
Parents, please don’t forget to check the Lost and Found, lost items have been hung up in the middle hallway. Also, be sure to check the office for small items like glasses, keys, or cell phones. All unclaimed items will be donated over the Summer.

High School Ranking
On May 12, 2015, U.S. News & World Report released their "2015 Best High Schools" list. As in years past, Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) did not appear in the rankings due to the methodology used. There is a link on the district's website with a more detailed explanation and why we anticipate appearing on this list beginning in 2018.

Each one of us play a part in preparing our students for the future. The individual student planning process involves education and career development, student transition, and appraisal. Next Monday, your child will be participating in a Soar Up transition activity to help them prepare for next year. We would like to Thank Marissa Rosen for her two years of service as PTO President. She graciously and tirelessly worked to make our school a better place for our kids. She is a wonderful example of selfless giving in our community and we are better to have her in it. Thanks for everything Marissa!

Girls on the Run Fall 2015
Girls on the Run is looking for energetic, positive, health-minded individuals who love working with children and who believe in helping our daughters to develop positive self- esteem, healthy relationships, and healthy habits for life. Lantern Festival
Celebrate the Asian culture that OB students have spent all year learning about in the Art Studio by visiting the Missouri Botanical Garden’s summer exhibit “Lantern Festival: Magic Reimagined” running May 23 through August 23. For more information please go to www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/
Lost and Found
Parents, please don’t forget to check the Lost and Found, lost items have been hung up in the middle hallway. Also, be sure to check the office for small items like glasses, keys, or cell phones. All unclaimed items will be donated over the Summer.
