Reserved Parking Spaces
Parents, please be respectful of the Reserved Parking Spaces in the front of the school, as this is an auction item that was paid for or also earned by the staff of the week. Thanks for being considerate.
Student Drop-Off Safety
Parents, if you choose to use the front circle to drop off your student when the buses have pulled away, we ask that you not let them out in the middle of the driveway (sidewalk side only) and also that you do not park in this lane (including top of the circle near the street). If they are not able to exit the vehicle on their own you will need to use the Upper Blacktop only for drop-off, as this hinders the flow of traffic and is also a safety hazard as other cars are pulling away. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe.

How to Raise An Adult Book Study
Would you agree that this parenting gig is hard? Would you like to join a book club to hear what an expert has to say and to talk with other parents about it? Well, Old Bonhomme is hosting a book club on the National Best Selling book How to Raise an Adult by Julie Lythcott-Haims. Read this New York Times article about the book to gain insight on what the book is about.
Our meeting times will be Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m. on the following dates: March 28, April 11, and May 2. If you are interested in participating in the Old Bonhomme book study, RSVP by emailing the school counselor, Hayley Arnold at harnold@ladueschools.net.

Lunch Menu Update
Who loves Papa John's pizza? On Monday, we will be having a special lunch choice in the cafeteria. Papa John's cheese pizza will be offered as the Hot Lunch choice on Monday only. Just let your teacher know if you will be buying lunch on Monday morning! Parents, if you plan to order a lunch and eat with your student on this day, please let the office know in the morning before 9:30, so you are included in the count. As a reminder, student lunches cost $2.60 and adult lunches are $3.10. Enjoy!

Parent Town Hall Advisory Meeting
In November, we started a very important and meaningful discussion about diversity at our Old Bonhomme Parent Town Hall Advisory Meeting. We want to continue to provide opportunities to have these courageous conversations, reflect on them, and educate ourselves and the community about what we can do to make this a better place for all of our students. Next Tuesday, February 21, from 6:30-8 p.m. we will hold another OB Parent Town Hall Advisory meeting in the Library. If you can join us, click here to RSVP. Nurse News
We've been seeing a lot of strep throat at Old Bonhomme in the past week. Symptoms include a fever (temp of 100.4 or higher) and a red sore throat. If your child has these symptoms, please keep your child home and schedule an appointment with their doctor. Children diagnosed with strep throat may return to school 24 hours after starting antibiotics, provided that they are also fever-free and feeling well enough to attend. Six weeks of After-School Fun!
The Spring After-School Program is coming up soon, and classes will start the week after Spring Break (March 27) and run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school. Please look for a registration packet to come home in your student’s folder in early March. We have lots of exciting new classes planned including STEM classes, Drama Club, Rugby, Puzzlers Club, Bookworm Detectives and more! Nurse News
We have had several cases of pink eye (conjunctivitis) at Old Bonhomme. Symptoms include redness of the eyes and/or eyelids with thick white or yellow discharge. Sometimes their eye will seem "crusted shut" when they first wake up in the morning. If you notice these symptoms in your child, please do not send them to school. Contact your child's pediatrician instead. They may return to school after treatment has been initiated. Click this link for more information.
Counselor News
What do you do if your child comes home and tells you someone has been mean to them at school? Email their classroom teacher and let them know what is going on. In addition, encourage your child to tell an adult at school someone has been mean to them. Through our class meetings we are reinforcing this proactive approach of teaching them to tell an adult at school when and where it happens as well as an adult at home. College T-Shirt Day
Thursday, February 9, everyone is encouraged to wear a college T-shirt and jeans. Parents, this is a great time to think about what your child's interest are and think about what after school classes, extra curricular activities, summer camps, and volunteer opportunities would help them explore this interest further.

OB Valentine Mailbox
Our annual Valentine mailbox will soon be opening for business! Please read all the information carefully to help us run it successfully! Parents – please check your child’s cards before they bring them to school to be sure that they follow the guidelines. In the spirit of community, kindergarten will once again be sponsoring a Valentine Post Office Service.

This will be an opportunity to send Valentine cards to anybody in the school.
• Opening: Monday morning, February 6.
• Last pick-up will be Monday, February 13 at 12p.m. (We need to close early in order to get all
Valentines sorted and delivered!) All Valentine cards must be in an envelope with only the “TO:” portion on it written in print.
• Cards must have the recipient’s first and last name and class name (grade then teacher's initial) Example: To: John Doe - KB
• Print writing only – NO CURSIVE!!!
• No candy is allowed! This is true for all Valentine cards, both in the school mailbox and within your room.
The Post Office is used for cards for children and teachers in other classrooms.
Parents, feel free to use the mailbox for your own personal Valentines. What could be more special than a Valentine from Mom or Dad, delivered to your son or daughter at school?
Please remember that Valentine's Day is for everyone! If your child brings Valentines on Tuesday, February 14, please be sure that there is a valentine for each member of the class.
Classroom valentines will be distributed in the classroom – they should not go in the school mailbox. Thank you for your cooperation.

Signs of Kindness
On Wednesday, a group of parents with their children created signs at home that they were given permission to place around school. Since January was our Kindness Recognition Month for Character Education it seemed a nice tie-in for our students and families. The signs were approved as long as they were positive and non-political.

Thank you to Mrs. Kelley, the "It's a Small World" committee, and everyone who attended Tuesday night's event. What a great way to show how diverse our community is!
Counselor News
The Great Kindness Challenge is January 23-27. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness on campuses nationwide. Our school is proudly participating in this proactive positive initiative.
All students will receive a GKC checklist (K-2 list, 3-4 list) with deeds to complete. Please encourage your child to complete the checklist and show the world that...KINDNESS MATTERS! Students can turn their completed form into the counseling office and earn a heart to write their name on and display on the front bulletin board.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is filling up fast and we need your help reclaiming lost hats, gloves, sweatshirts, sweaters and coats! All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity before spring break. Please take a moment to write your child's name on the inside of clothing items and lunch boxes, so they can be returned if they are found.

Ladue Community Chili Supper
It's 'Due time for the District's annual Community Chili Supper. All schools are invited to attend this community-building event on Friday, January 27 from 5-7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. $6 per person pre-paid fee (or $8 at the door) includes chili and BBQ dinner, entrance to all the basketball games occurring that night, and activities and fun. Tardies
The roads and weather are now clear, so let s make sure our students are here!
We have noticed a big increase in late arrivals in the mornings. We understood during construction, and realize we all have those mornings from time to time, but there are many students we are seeing in the office for a late slip on a daily basis. Parents, please do your best to bring your student to school on time. Students are allowed in the building beginning at 8:40 and the tardy bell rings at 8:50. We also have supervision outside beginning at 8:30 if you would like to avoid a long line at drop-off. Thank you for your help in giving our students a smoother start to their day!

Illness Reminder
It can sometimes be hard to know when your child is too sick to attend school. Here are some guidelines based on symptoms:
Vomiting: If your child vomits in the morning before school, they may not attend school that day. Keep them home, and if they do not vomit again, they may return the next day. If they vomit more than once, please keep them home until they have been vomit-free for a full 24 hours.
Diarrhea: Children experiencing diarrhea should not attend school until they have been symptom-free for a full 24 hours.
Fever: For our school policy, a fever is a temp of 100.0 degrees or higher. Children with fever should stay home until they have been fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Strep throat: Children may return to school after they have been on antibiotics for a full 24 hours. Pink eye: Children may return to school after they have been on antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours.
In general, children should be excluded from school until they are well-enough to participate in routine activities. If you have any other questions please contact our school nurse, Sarah Lent, at slent@ladueschools.net

LEF News
Give the Gift of Connecting Past with Present Last April, our generous community supported the $85.1 million bond referendum, which will renovate the high school with a focus on academic spaces. Even with this bond, there is approximately a $7.5M gap between what that will cover and the ideal renovation. The LEF is continuing our campaign to help complete the total campus project, which includes enrichment areas and athletic facilities. Building on the momentum of the initial phase of our campaign, in which we secured nearly $2 million in pledges from our lead donors, the LEF has begun phase two, bringing naming rights and opportunities, large and small, to our supporters, alumni and district families. We invite the community to be a part of this important event in our district’s history!
Inscribed bricks will be placed at the beautiful new south entrance to LHWHS. The Ladue Education Foundation (LEF) is making bricks available to students and families, alumni and community members, with funds going toward LEF’s capital campaign for the high school. You can be a permanent part of the LHWHS renewed campus by purchasing a brick to commemorate a team, honor a teacher, remember a loved one, give your child a lasting gift or simply celebrate your own years as a Ladue School District student! It's a Small World family event:
The purpose of “It’s a Small World...” is to celebrate diversity and the many cultures at Old Bonhomme, by organizing a series of activities for children and their families aimed at bringing us closer together. This program is sponsored by the OBPTO and is free of charge.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, January 17, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the gym, and is open to all families, including siblings. Children are welcome to come in their pajamas and bring their sleeping bag for story time with Mrs. Kelley. We'll have crafts, milk and cookies to share.

Diarrhea: Children experiencing diarrhea should not attend school until they have been symptom-free for a full 24 hours.
Fever: For our school policy, a fever is a temp of 100.0 degrees or higher. Children with fever should stay home until they have been fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Strep throat: Children may return to school after they have been on antibiotics for a full 24 hours. Pink eye: Children may return to school after they have been on antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours.

Community Service Event
OB Families please come help with our community service project on Dr. King's Memorial Day, Monday, Jan. 16! Mrs. King asked all Americans to roll up their sleeves and help one another on Dr. King's memorial day! We honor her request each year when we do community service together.
Please join us Monday, Jan. 16, at 9 a.m. to decorate, prep, and organize care kits for the people who are homeless.
We will also look for families willing to drive the care kits to the homeless shelters around St. Louis. If you'd like to drive please contact Mrs. Roth at lroth@ladueschols.net or Mrs. Crawford at lcrawford@ladueschools.net.

In November, we started a very important and meaningful discussion about diversity at our Old Bonhomme Parent Town Hall Advisory Meeting. We want to continue to provide opportunities to have these courageous conversations, reflect on them, and educate ourselves and the community about what we can do to make this a better place for all of our students. On Tuesday, February 21 we will hold another OB Parent Town Hall Advisory meeting. Between now and then there are several opportunities to meet and learn about others in our community.
