Parenting well is hard, but not impossible. This semester we are hosting a Strong Parent group at Old Bonhomme. We will share coffee and treats while using a program called The StrongParent Project to facilitate our conversations, learn, and share parenting tips and strategies. Upcoming meetings are on Saturday, February 20, March 5, April 2, and April 16 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m in the OB Conference Room. You can commit to one or all of the sessions. If needed, child care will be provided. Go to https://docs.google.com/a/ladueschools.net/forms/d/13_cANGkzRW8CWrznOWJzR91Gq5sJhrXxOGvP87tifag/viewform to enroll in the program.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
If you have a child that will be 5 years old before August 1, 2016, please contact Mrs. Dunkle in the school office to set up an appointment for a kindergarten screening, or call (314) 983-KIDS. Spaces are filling up, so please call and book yours today!
LOST AND FOUND
Parents, don’t forget to check the Lost and Found for any missing items. The coats and jackets are quickly accumulating in there! Also, remember to write your child’s name in all outerwear so the character council can easily return items to your child.
In Other News...
"News 4 Schools" KMOV came yesterday to film for a segment on the Peaceful Protests coordinated in response to the racial slurs being yelled at one of our crossing guards. They interviewed several teachers and students for the segment. At this time, they are planning to air it on Tuesday, March 1 during the 5 p.m. newscast. The News 4 Schools segment generally is toward the end of the broadcast -- so maybe closer to 5:20. Of course, this is always barring some other huge breaking news story bumping it.
Safety in the Hallways
Parents, just a friendly reminder that if you are dropping your child off in the morning, please do not walk through the hallways with a stroller. The hallways can get very busy and this not only adds to the congestion, but can become a hazard to other students. Thanks for your cooperation.

OB's Got Character
Did your OB student(s) share with you about our January Class Buddy Time? The objective of the lesson was for students to “Choose To Be Nice” by respecting their space, as well as other people’s spaces. The lesson started with students learning about their kinesphere. Your kinesphere is like your own personal space bubble. There are three different types of space; personal space, shared space, and outer space. Outer space may not be what you think it is.... ask your child(ren) to tell you about it! Just as bubbles can pop, so can your kinesphere. Kinespheres can be "popped" by running into/touching the furniture, running into/touching other people, or by our voices. Please consider asking us to demonstrate how to move while keeping our kinesphere, and the kinesphere of people around us, from popping. Then consider trying it out as a family by moving around your home while everyone keeps their kinespheres intact. We are looking forward to our next Class Buddy Time later in February.

Student Safety
Put student safety first! When students are dropped off and walking in between cars, they are not safe. Once the buses have left the front circle, a staff member removes the chain and parents can use the front circle for student drop-off and pick-up with the understanding that students should ONLY be let out at the sidewalk and not in the middle of the road/ driveway. Thank you for your understanding as we all work together to keep our students safe.
