FDA Warning Regarding Cumin
Chartwells, the district's food service provider, has advised the district that on February 19, 2015, the FDA issued a consumer alert for people highly allergic or sensitive to peanuts. These individuals are advised to avoid products containing ground cumin or cumin powder, as some shipments of these products have tested positive for undeclared peanut protein. Based on this information, Chartwells has removed all foods containing cumin from menus for peanut- allergic students and "peanut free" schools. For more information see the post: "FDA Alert Regarding Cumin and Peanut Allergies" at www.ladueschools.net.

Old Bonhomme parents and guardians,
please tell us what you think!
Your input is always appreciated, but sometimes finding time to pick up the phone or write a note is not always possible. Each year we use Survey Monkey, an on-line tool, to gather your input. Last year we only collected 44 responses. Your input is helpful and we’d love an even greater response this year!
The survey can be accessed from any computer since it is internet-based. If you would like to use our computers at school, you may stop by the computer lab while here for parent-teacher conferences next week.
Access the survey beginning Monday, March 2, at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YHGMGSXParent_Climate_Survey_2015 or from a link on the Old Bonhomme School website. The survey will be available until March 27. Your time and input is valued! Cheryl Kirchgessner, Principal

PTO NEWS
The Old Bonhomme PTO has been very fortunate to complete several successful fundraisers during this school year. Fundraisers included the Bowling 4 Bonhomme Event, Square 1 Art, wrapping paper sales, Scrip Card sales, and the After-School classes. We thank each of you for donating your time and resources to help us raise money for the children and the school. We (meaning you!) have been able to fund several exciting events for the children so far this year including the Back-to-School picnic, classroom parties, field trips to Powell Hall and the Botanical Gardens (including bus fees!), dramatic storytellers for several grades, 8 mini grants for teachers to support curriculum, and the UNsorted play for all kids. In addition, we have been able to provide the following items that all families will enjoy: a Buzz Book for each family, Field Day t-shirts for each child, and new outdoor benches on the upper blacktop. Again, thank you for your support! We look forward to another great semester!

FROM THE COUNSELOR
This week is National School Counseling Week. A time to celebrate what is going right and evaluate what can be better. Then take a few minutes to complete this https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zHIyvbSy0Pt-C2UAw27VEAC-YQLg5yVn19Ar44UUpc0/viewform so we continue to improve our program. Thank you for your support!

OB’S GOT CHARACTER
February's Character Word of the Month at OB is COMPASSION. Compassion means caring about other people. When someone is feeling hurt or sad, your heart wants that person to feel better. Consider talking as a family about ways you have/could show compassion.

Valentine Mailbox Reminder:

• Cards must have the recipient’s first and last name and class name (grade then teacher's initial)
