If you are able to help out for 30-60 minutes that afternoon, please email Susan Kelley at skelley@ladueschools.net with your availability.
Attention Parents of 3rd and 4th Grade Students:
Old Bonhomme is lucky to host the hilarious and talented children's author Mac Barnett on Tuesday, October 18. Third and fourth graders will be treated to his presentation and have the opportunity to purchase two of his most popular chapter books, The Terrible Two and The Terrible Two Get Worse. Any student that purchases one or both of Barnett's books can have them signed by the author that afternoon! Order forms have been sent home and can be returned up to the day of the author visit. BUS PASS REMINDER
Parents, please remember, if your child will be getting off the bus at a different stop, You MUST fill out a bus pass and have it signed by the office at least 24 hours in advance for this to be permitted by the bus driver. Also, as a reminder, students are not permitted to ride a different bus at any time due to space on the buses.
Old Bonhomme School 2016 MAP Results (Missouri Assessment Program)
MAP results from last spring are finally available and we’ve done some preliminary analysis to share with you. These standardized on-line tests are given to third and fourth graders in English- Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics each spring. Our scores continue to be consistently strong with 85% of our third and fourth graders scoring Proficient or Advanced in ELA and 78% scoring Proficient or Advanced in Math. This year there was a new version of the test so it is difficult to compare to previous years, although, it is good to note, that on two distinct tests and two different groups of students, our students scored nearly the same as the previous year. We are continuing to use effective researched-based strategies and seek new ways to reach our students including use of growth mind-set language and arts integration strategies to get students more actively engaged in their learning. We are looking at strategies for students to show what they have learned on these tests since we see many of our students who demonstrate proficient learning on other measures we use, but then not perform as well on the MAP test. If you are interested in more information or have questions about your own child’s report, please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Kirchgessner at ckirchgessner@ladueschools.net.
Mrs. Arnold, our school counselor, has created an excellent OB Parent Guide to Student Appraisal, which details more information about MAP and other assessment tools you may hear about during upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences.
