FIRST Lego League Robotics Scramble
Wednesday, February 26, 2014, 6:30-8p.m at the Fifth Grade Center
Parents and students, come learn about FIRST LEGO League (FLL), a robotics program for 9 to 14 year olds, which is designed to get children excited about science and technology and teach them valuable employment and life skills. Kathy Reuter, the FLL Operational Partner for Eastern Missouri (who also runs a summer Lego Robotic camp here in town), will be on hand to talk about the program, as well as Karen Engelkenjohn, the gifted specialist at Reed Elementary who has coached countless FLL teams over the past 8 years, and is a member of the St. Louis FIRST LEGO League Planning Committee, as well as Co-Chairperson of the Junior FIRST LEGO League Committee in St. Louis. In addition, several teams that competed this Fall in the Nature's Fury competition (including the Eastern Missouri state champions) will be there to show students their robots in action, as well as share information about the inventions they came up with. Parents who coached these teams will also be on hand to answer any questions about what is involved in coaching a team. We hope you can join us, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Caroline Chicoine at 314-346-5860 or chicoine@sbcglobal.net. For more informaton about FLL, please go to http://www.firstlegoleague.org.
