Dinner Table Discussion Starters
We all know that family dinners are important. But do you know how important they are?
Here’s some of the research:
– According to Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in 2004, children ages 11-18 who dine frequently as a family experience less depression and suicidal tendencies, and have better grades.
– Additionally, frequent family dinner is the single most important factor in the development of a child’s vocabulary (Harvard Research, 1996).
– Columbia University’s 2012 study shows that regular family dinners increase the likelihood of excellent relationships between parents and teenagers. In turn, these excellent relationships lead to a radical decrease of substance abuse in teenagers.
You can click here to find 101 Dinner Table Discussion Starters. In the future, more ideas for dinner conversations will be posted here.

OB's Got Character
Hopefully your OB student(s) shared with you about our March Class Buddy Time on Monday afternoon. Students met with fellow students in their buddy class(es) to review Choosing To Be Nice with our bodies by respecting other people’s spaces (kinespheres), and also learned body movements to perform while reciting the Choose To Be Nice promise. Monday, April 4, we will begin reciting the Choose To Be Nice promise, with the addition of body movements. Please click here to watch Obi, our school mascot, moving his body along to the Choose To Be Nice promise. Have YOU made the Choose To Be Nice Promise yet? Thank you for considering doing so if you have not already. We are looking forward to our April Class Buddy Time, which is our final scheduled meeting time for this school year.
