Allergy Reminder
This is just a reminder to parents that all food served in the classrooms must first be approved by both the teacher and the school nurse. This is to ensure that it is safe for ALL students in the classroom. If a treat cannot be eaten by all children in the classroom, then it will not be allowed to be served. PTO Room Parents organize treats for holiday parties and have them approved in advance. No treats can be brought by parents or kids to be distributed at the party unless they have been approved by the Room Parents and the Nurse. We appreciate your kindness, but must put the safety of our students first.
Please contact the school nurse with any questions:

NAACP to Host Second Ladue Schools Town Hall Meeting on Monday, Dec. 5
On Monday, Dec. 5, the St. Louis County NAACP will be hosting its second Town Hall Meeting to continue to facilitate discussions for residents, staff members and alumni of the Ladue School District. The meeting will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Ethical Society of St. Louis, located at 9001 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63117.
This is a follow-up to the Town Hall Meeting held on Nov. 23, as many were not able to attend due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Jeff Small, former news anchor and current eLittle Communications Group consultant, will facilitate the conversation which is taking place for the purpose of providing a forum for Ladue School District residents and staff to share their thoughts and feelings about race relations in the district. Parents, students, alumni and district employees are specifically encouraged to attend. Those interested in speaking will be allowed to do so within enforced time limits.
John Gaskin III, an alumnus of Ladue Horton Watkins High School and a member of the national NAACP board, is coordinating this opportunity with support from the Ladue School District Board of Education and administration. Seating will be

limited and attendees are asked to arrive early and have proof of residency or affiliation with the district.

CURE
CURE is a committee of Ladue parents/guardians of African American students that meets four times a year. Their meeting has been rescheduled from December 5 to Wednesday, December 7 so interested parents can participate in the 2nd Ladue Town Hall meeting on Monday, Dec. 5. The CURE meeting will take place in the High School Library from 6:30-8 p.m.

Staffing News
We have two new hires joining the Old Bonhomme team. Ms. Kristine Carey joined us as a Part-time Counselor on Dec. 1. She has extensive counseling experience and is currently working in the Crystal City Schools where she'll continue part-time. Mrs. Aida Greenberg will be joining us part time in the shared ESL TA role with Spoede. Mrs. Greenberg is a retired ESL Teacher from the Pattonville School District who also happens to be an Olivette resident and parent of two Old Bonhomme alumni.
Message from Ms. Carey...
I am excited to join the Old Bonhomme educational team in the counseling department. In 2006, I earned a Masters in Counseling with a School Endorsement at Truman State University and have been working as a school counselor ever since. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with students in the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Bamberg, Germany, a K-12 school in northwest Missouri, and a K-8 building in Jefferson County. I love learning and working with children-- they teach me so much everyday! Currently, I have also returned to school to complete a Certificate in Play Therapy. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for the opportunity to bring myself, my experiences, and my ever-evolving skill set to Old Bonhomme to work with the staff and students!

Are you aware that there are children that don't get to go trick-or-treating and would love a few treats?
We have a solution!

Bring any unopened candy to the office by Friday, November 4. All candy will be boxed up and taken to the local Ronald McDonald House for other children and families in our community to enjoy. Please do not buy any candy for this activity. Save that money to buy real food for our Thanksgiving drive! Start our community giving today!

Also, as a reminder, students are not permitted to ride a different bus at any time due to space on the buses.
Old Bonhomme School 2016 MAP Results (Missouri Assessment Program)
MAP results from last spring are finally available and we’ve done some preliminary analysis to share with you. These standardized on-line tests are given to third and fourth graders in English- Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics each spring. Our scores continue to be consistently strong with 85% of our third and fourth graders scoring Proficient or Advanced in ELA and 78% scoring Proficient or Advanced in Math. This year there was a new version of the test so it is difficult to compare to previous years, although, it is good to note, that on two distinct tests and two different groups of students, our students scored nearly the same as the previous year. We are continuing to use effective researched-based strategies and seek new ways to reach our students including use of growth mind-set language and arts integration strategies to get students more actively engaged in their learning. We are looking at strategies for students to show what they have learned on these tests since we see many of our students who demonstrate proficient learning on other measures we use, but then not perform as well on the MAP test. If you are interested in more information or have questions about your own child’s report, please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Kirchgessner at ckirchgessner@ladueschools.net.
Mrs. Arnold, our school counselor, has created an excellent OB Parent Guide to Student Appraisal, which details more information about MAP and other assessment tools you may hear about during upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences.

Buzz books went home last Friday, 1 per household. Thank you to our Buzz Book Chair, Jessica Goldman, and her committee, Nicole Addison and Terri Penn, for getting it done as quickly as possible. Thank you to Mrs. Roth for assisting in judging the artwork for the book as well. Our fourth graders did such a good job, we had to find a way to include as many illustrations as possible!
Thank you to our First Grade Social Chair, Sandhya Vollala, and her team of volunteers: Kelechi Loynd, Suzette Weiss, Seema Dugar, and Monai Prabagaran, for making last week's First Grade Social a huge success!
The Dance-A-Thon was also a huge success, and it could not have been possible without your support. We were able to raise over $20,000 to spend on the needs and wants of our school. Thank you to our DAT chairs: Jamie Caccciabando, Jayme Fingerman, and Anne Leidenfrost, for making the fundraising event so much fun. Coach Prange and Coach Jander, for teaching our kids all of those dances, and all of the DAT volunteers for helping with Prize Patrol, setting up and tearing down Friday night, cheering on the kids during the day, baking for our bake sale, selling baked goods or spirit wear, monitoring the kids, the chalk work, and dancing as Obi. If you got some amazing pictures from the event that you'd like to share with the school, please send them to oldbonhommepto@gmail.com

Lead Test Results
Due to recent news and concerns about levels of lead in the drinking water at public schools in the area, the water in all buildings in the district were tested on Sept. 7 and 8, 2016. We just received the final full report and the conclusion states the following: "All sample results had detections of lead below the federal and state action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb). No further action is recommended at this time.” In fact, no faucet or water fountain tested higher than 2.9 ppb, and the vast majority were under 1.0 ppb.
